Grandma Cox’s Dilly Beans

Cook young tender green beans 5-10 mins – until tender to bite. Cool.
For each pint:
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp dill seed
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/8 tsp alum or crystal of alum
Bring to boil and pour over beans:
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups vinegar
- 1/4 tsp salt
Makes 3-4 pints.
