Grandma Cox’s Dilly Beans

Cook young tender green beans 5-10 mins – until tender to bite. Cool.

For each pint:

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp dill seed
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/8 tsp alum or crystal of alum
Bring to boil and pour over beans:
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Makes 3-4 pints.
